Post DUI, 30 years old, what car?

I had more than a few things going on earlier in the year, made a number of wrong decisions. Long story short, the most significant one resulting in a 25month disqualification.
I’ve got one of the last built BMW E86s with high spec & low miles which I was thinking of keeping but think I am going to sell up and save for something more exotic.
My initial thoughts are an M6 gran coupe, they are currently 30-35k so should fall in to my budget as my ban is ending.
Curious as to what people recommend to go for next (I’ve 18 months to think, re-think and over-think..). I’ll be 30 with 7 years NCB and a DR10.
Criteria: 6 cylinders or more, RWD or 4WD, open to body shape, open to age, mileage ideally sub 50k, budget up to 30k, insurance to be sub £2k (been quoted £1400-1800 on an M6).
Thought about TVRs, 996 C4S & Z06 C6, SLK55, CLK63 but keep ending up looking at M6 GC’s!
Also open to a toy and a daily - Caterham 7 Roadsport & X3 3.0sd?

I would do this, as 2 years premium on an ultra low group car could still be cheaper than losing the 7 year nch. (Though you only need the policy for enough time to stop your ncb lapsing, not to run right up to your ban ending).I think tax and mot could be allowed to lapse as long as it's sorned / off road.
Should be easy to estimate your mileage when they ask.
Having bought a Z4M - keep in mind the vehicles age. I went in with a budget of 70k to fix any issues and I'll come out somewhat over that... Factor in bearings as well and you could easily blow 100k getting your car to 100% condition mechanically.
The E89 shape is much newer and those 3.0l engines are meant to be bulletproof bar some cooling issues
But the E86 shape is a more beautifuland uncommon car - you'll see 5-10x as many BMW cars E89s as you will E86, let alone M coupes.
The biggest plus for the E89 is the folding hard top, looks great up, looks great down and is, a "best of both worlds" solution added to that you get a more modern interior, newer implementation of BMW UX etc.
Having only driven E86s I can say, confidently, that nothing feels quite like a Z4M, I've driven only a rough one and it certainly goes, feels and sounds like very little else I've experienced. This might be an annoyance if your work drive contains a lot of traffic/robots etc.
Overall I'd say you need to weigh up the cars in terms of what you plan to do.

Best to get quotes with the car model before you buy,also make sure you clear cookies and temp files on your browser before each attempt
I dont like to be a spoil sport mate but from what I know/read a DR10 will hit your insurance premium a lot and some wont even insure you but there are some who specialize in insuring drivers getting back on the road after a ban like Adrian Flux,anyways research well before you buy and good luck mate
