Ok ok.....im sat in my car writing this.
But of course it would not be exactly like the Lexus and would Aston DNA but the price for what it is......its not far off.

My eyes !!!!

Vantage should've been an evolution of the previous model using a Ford NA 5.2L voodoo with its screaming 8200 rpm redline and 526 hp. Go listen to YouTube of a Shelby GT350 being put through its paces; spine tingling.

Hope that answers your question

Two fellows at a bar.

"What are you driving these days Julian?"
"An Aston Martin."
"Wow, that is really cool, Julian. I have a Lexus."
"I have never heard of a Lexus before. Is it perhaps an Elon Musk car, Bert?"

Technically it is probably magnificent, but why name it Lexus? Toyota have won Le Mans more than once, so they don't need to be embarrassed about the Toyota name for a sports car.

Why? Why not bore out the 4.3/4.7 to it's maximum evolution of 5.4 and fit twin inlet manifolds to get enough air in?

Voodoo and Coyote are good, but why throw all of the AMEP/AML engineering in the bin for a crate engine?

These are a Mosman regular (wealthiest postcode in Australia), I've seen three on the same road (Military Road). Red, blue and black. Lovely noise under acceleration...

Not rare in California, and not even close or as special as an Aston. Even if it's technically better, it's still not an Aston.

It no doubt had to do with finances and ridiculous Cafe standards. I believe they had a choice between engineering their V12 into a turbo, or developing a turbo V8, and they had to go with the V12. Would bet the AMG V8 costs a fortune, one of the reasons for the big jump in the price of the Vantage, but still cheaper than an all new in house V8. I don't remember why but the out going Aston V8 just wasn't an efficient engine design.

The Ford Vodoo is basically the Coyote V8 with a flat plane crank. Also not as efficient as the AMG. But it is a smooth high winding bullet proof engine and Ford can offset it with their small Eco boost engines to meet corporate fuel standards. A luxury Aston doesn't have.

Well in the 3 months I’ve had my Vantage I’ve seen 2 or 3.
I’ve not seen a LC500 at all.
I did look at the current RCF (same engine I think)before buying the Vantage but wasn’t sure.
The LC is twice the price so if I had been looking then a V12V would have been in the mix.

If you buy a car based on what you’re going to say at the bar then maybe you’re right. I have a V12V; has real substance and integrity deserving of the brand. Not sure anything since does except maybe latest DBS. Increasingly saying Aston Martin means ‘I bought a brand’ and not ‘I bought a well engineered and original sports car’.

Have looked at the LC500 - is pretending to be nothing other than what it is, a NA V8 with lots of gizmos and an interesting and original (not derivative) showcase for the brand. Other car on my list is last of the C7 Z06’s. Have had a C5 and C6 - brilliant!

Funnily enough I’d never have considered an AMG but since the new Vantage introduces me to it I had a look and think that too is a contender for my money - it is what is says on the label.
