Drivers door won't open from outside Ford Galaxy mk2
Discussion
Please someone help me!
I took the lock barrel out of my father in laws Galaxy as it wont lock/unlock and found that the 'paddle' bit has snapped off so the key just spins around in it.
My problem is when I put it back in and attempted to open the door from the outside the bloody thing wont open, it did before I took the lock out.
It opens ok from the inside so he has to open the rear door and reach through.
He has his MOT on Wed and he is fuming with me! I need to fix this for him.
Any ideas at all ? I will not mess with his car in the future (note to myself)
Thanks.

Having not had that exact door apart before I can't be any more specific I am afraid.
You may need to open up the other one to do a back-to-back comparison (don't either tell your Dad or touch anything) to be certain, but yes, you are likely looking for a rod/linkage/hook etc.

Will take a proper look when I get chance, passed MOT anyway (after explaining things( so he's happy enough, just a pain reaching through the back door.
I can’t offer any useful advice, but you have my sympathy.
Once had an issue with my A6, the outer drivers door handle would stick when you pulled it sometimes. We (me and my old man) had a go at fixing it... closed the door (door card on) and went for the test. Door wouldn’t open at all from the outside. Or the inside!!!
Cue removal of interior decorative panel. A peep hole (well... it was probably 2” diameter!) was drilled and we could reach the linkage. After lots of swearing Dad eventually managed to connect the linkage to whatever it needed to go to and the door opened! Decorative panel re-fitted and you couldn’t tell we’d ever been there...
As mentioned, I’d probably strip the other side down, then re-assemble everything on the problem side as per the one you stripped down. Might not be the quickest route to a fix, but could be the least stressful. Just be sure to pick a day where it won’t rain (he says having attempted to fix a window regulator about 2 weeks ago... you know, the day all that rain came!)

Thanks for the replies all.
I had another look at it yesterday and glad to say I've sorted it now, it was a fiddly job but not too difficult and door card didn't need to be touched which saved a bit of time.
It was simply about getting the hook part of the handle aligned correctly with a another inside the door.
Happy days!
