Hi all,

Aren't modern diesels fun?

I recently bought a 2010 transporter 2.0 biturbo from a dealer. Id been looking for a camper conversion and this one seemed perfect, with 6 gears and aircon which can be hard to find.

Ive had issues since day one, but the dealer, so far, have been lovely to deal with. It's been back and fourth a few times, but wondered if there's a VW guru here who might be able to shed a little more light?

The short story is;

- From day 01 or purchase, DPF kept coming on, but vehicle wouldn't regen. Light would go off only when ignition cycled. I noticed it wouldn't go past 4000 rpm, and would go into limp home mode (glow plug light flashing) if kept there for a few moments.

- I took it to a VW specialist, they diagnosed a faulty fuel pressure reg, found the fan wasn't operating due to some worn wiring. Dealer agreed to repairs.

- Assuming all fixed, I went to the annual Le Mans trip with my friends, only for the DPF light to come on halfway, along with glow plug light flashing, limp home mode, and the EML light too.

- We made it to campsite, and next day went to VW commercial in Le Mans - fanatic service from them, they really wanted to help. They found a faulty DPF pressure sensor, replaced.

- They found soot was way way too high, did some static regens and got soot content down to i think 35 grams, but couldn't get it lower. They then said id be able to limp home to the uk like that, but it would probably need a new dpf.

Cue one long, slow, horrid drive home.

- Upon return, i agreed with dealer to bring it back to them. On the way, DPF light went off, not in limp home, and EML light went out after cycling ignition! At the dealer, their mechanic plugged in a laptop, went for a drive and got soot content down to 1.5 grams! A mircable it seems, the vehicle has now regen-ed properly.

- I drive home and alls well. Next drive i go on, which was on the motorway, DPF light comes on again... and again light stay on until ignition is switched off, only to come on again on motorway. ... seems odd to clog up again so quickly, its like its trying to regen but can't. And how could soot build up again so quickly?

It'll be going back to dealer again.

But would anyone more expert on here have any thoughts on what the issue could be? It feels like everything is symptomatic of something else. Could it be leaky turbos dripping oil into the DPF? Could it be a faulty EGR valve making the engine run more sooty? Im baffled.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated
