Why I'm investing in pads for mountain biking.....

Went out biking with my brother in law and his cousin and we had an awesome time until we were jumping off some pretty high drops....

I made it but...........



.....my brother in law didn't! They're actually really deep! Don't you hate that grit!

Moral of the story; Buy some decent pads. They're on order

Was going to suggest Dianese, but thought may be a bit of an overkill.

They look pretty good. I need something that'll protect my shins too. They're covered in scars from my V8 pedals!

I can remember one riding session at Aston Hill (www.astonhill.com) where I thought I'd finished so I'd taken off my arm guards. A mate came along to check out this bomb hole so I said I'd go ride it with him for a little bit. Left the pads off.

What happens?

Yup, first run, arse over tit and nicely bruised up elbow. ggrr

Get some Brooklyn Machine Works Shin Burgers.



They are milled from a solid piece of aluminium, with bottle openers on either side. I wouldn't fancy having a shin meet pedal incident with these.

My mate used to run some very similar on his trials bike. I took a gouge down to the bone on my shin because of them!!

Who needs pads though?? Women love battle scars - Don't they?

The knee and shin pads (the only ones they do are great, I hate wearing pads, but I beginning to get used to these ones, saved me a few times now.

Plus you can do some wicked knee slides, and you can kick each other in the shins...
