After my salvage auction musings, I have decided its probably not worth the hassle. So, rather than waiting for the right wreck to come up, I can now choose the type of car I will go for next.

My average drive is around 30 miles, I like a good drive, but don't want to be crippled by it. A couple of times a month I do a 400-mile round trip.

Cars on the cards are....

2012 or newer BMW 7 Series
Porche Panamera
Masarati granturismo
Maserati Ghibli
Aston Martin Vantage

What would you chose?

That's a pretty eclectic list.

Budget? How much practicality do you need?

Up to 30k, the less the better.

Practicality, it just needs 2 seats. 4 seats would be nice.

Needs to have cruise control and be reasonably comfortable, but also sporty.

I also want something that's bordering on the "exotic".

I'd go for the Porsche out of that list, given your requirements. If you're not 100% keen on Sporty then I'd plump for the 7 series.

Something like this? Safe option with 2 yr warranty etc, cruise is a £500 retrofit at a Porsche dealer. PM me if interested.

From that list above at that budget the BMW and Porsche are the only two viable options IMO. Maintenance of any type on an Aston or Maserati is ridiculous. For example spark plugs on a Vantage is an engine out job!!

I'm just not a Merc fan. Cant really figure out why.

Good shout on the Mustang and the M6 though.

I think the 7 Series is still the winner, cheapest too.

Yes it's the cheapest but imo also the ugliest, why not go for a 640/650i:
