OPC trying to flog me a 718, email explains:

"The latest cars have the most up to date technology in terms of the PCM being updated to include Sat Nav and an embedded sim card fitted as standard. In addition, one of the most notable changes is that sports exhaust is also now standard on the cars, giving you improved acoustics which many Porsche enthusiasts greatly appreciate."

...Not.

Hate PSE.

May be of interest to someone out there though?

PSE is presumably now standard because of the GPF. Embedded SIM my arse....I think that means you’ll get limited data for three months and then ludicrous pricing from Porsche if you sign up for it on an ongoing basis. \

Desperate times...

Indeed. Their opening email...

"I’m writing to you as we have a fantastic and rare opportunity for you to purchase one of three specific new cars, with extremely favourable terms, as we are approaching the end of the quarter.

We have a brand new 718 Boxster 2.0 and a 718 Cayman 2.0 that we are keen to sell promptly, ahead of further new car deliveries coming our way in the next month.

In addition to this, we are always looking to add to our Used Car stock, so if you have an existing model that you would consider part exchanging, our Buying Team would be very interested in discussing the options with you as part of a wider deal.

I must emphasize that this opportunity is very much an immediate one, so if you are open to hearing more and making a conclusive decision within the next couple of days, we would love to hear from you and hopefully help you secure one of the ultimate new sports cars to see you through the summer months and beyond!

If you would like to learn more, please contact me today by email reply or phone. We would be delighted to discuss the specific details with you further.

I look forward to hearing from you."

Quarter End...they need to shift the cars by end of June I am guessing. I am sure there’s a deal for anyone who wants a 718.

Nothing new there - PSE has been standard since last September (I think) and Sat Nav even longer.

This made me smile ! My visit to my local OPC with deposit in hand and they could not give me a build slot or indicate a likely date for one nor any delivery date ! I am a regular customer also so not a stranger to them.

DJMC’s post says the OPC has cars in stock they want to shift....not about ordering to spec!

Isn't the 718 selling like hot cakes...unbelevable that any OPC has excess stock lying around unsold.

More likely general economic conditions and announcements of new models.

Interestingly on 718 sales:

I do think if you’re in the market for existing dealer stock you could get some good deals now (prob anywhere, not just Porsche!)
