Hi All - a family member is looking to purchase an MG for around 8 or 9K (soft top) probably around an 03 plate. I know next to nothing about them so would appreciate any buying advice in terms of which model / edition would represent a decent purchase? The TF looks to be the most available - guess this is the latest version?

Thanks, Rob.

Yes the TF is the latest model and you should get a very reasonable one for 8/9k.
Iv'e found that this Forum for MG's isn't overflowing with information and I would suggest you look up www2.mgcars.org.uk - then the Bulletin Board or BB Archive.
Previously I had a TVR S2 and then bought one of the last MGF's (before the TF), the MG is a more civilised car than the TVR but I wouldn't knock either, the TVR was great fun and very reliable despite what some have said.
There are a lot of TF's around at the moment and Dealers are offering good prices on Demo. models. There is also the Pistonheads Classifieds to give further clues.

Well, the only 03-plate MG roadster was the TF. Various engine specs but all much the same animal. I'd guess they're still £10K+ unless dealers are trying to offload in the wake of the MG-Rover collapse.
