Which new watches to invest in right now?
Discussion
Buying new, probably nothing outside of Rolex SS sports watches....which you can’t get anyway.
Also dropping 40k on a single watch is not a very good idea if investment is a concern. Lack of diversity etc.
You should buy multiple used and varied watches with box and papers from multiple of the big name manufacturers, including, yes, Rolex. Also Omega, Penerai, AP, IWC, Breitling, Patek, Heuer, Tudor, Hublot, etc. Which specific models though, that’s where the homework comes in. But I’d suggest the biggest gainers are pieces below the 10 grand mark as they’re “affordable” to more people in the market for a luxury watch.

Have some money to spend and want some watches I can locate new and will appreciate in value.
I don’t want to be on a Rolex wait list etc, waste of time
Views much appreciated. Have 40k to invest
All the new watches that make money have long wait lists, you've missed the boat. I don’t want to be on a Rolex wait list etc, waste of time

Get to know your watches and bag some bargains, they do crop up still.
This year I have bought and sold....
Seamaster 2450.50 for £1200 recently, sold for £1700.
2003 Datejust 36mm for £2150 sold for £2900.
2017 Oyster 39mm for £3300 sold for £3800.
2008 Sub date - £4100 with box and papers but scratched bezel. New bezel insert was £120. Sold £5300 to a dealer.
2016 Datejust 41mm blue oyster for £3600 from Europe (no box etc.) - still wearing that, but would get £4200 no problem.
I have got some others as well that I am moving on.
That is £3500 profit since March, so 4 months or so, so a 10% return in your £40k every 6 months without risking it all in 1 or 2 watches. Plus far more importantly is it is fun finding them, trying new stuff out etc.
Buying new is pointless imho, the time it take for a return is silly.
7-10 years is when you will see your money back on SS sports watches with Rolex as a guaranteed return, obviously you might see a 20% hike if you want to flip it if the market stays as it is at the moment.
But be a bit careful, as we are starting to see a return to smaller, neater more classic watches, certainly in the fashion industry, started last season a bit, this season loads of people were in Datejusts and Oysters. So nothing is a guarantee.
I think with watches, buy used with box and papers and good condition but at the right price, always someone selling something with crap description or poor photos where you can grab a bit of a bargain. Don't be afraid of buying from Europe through Chrono 24 etc. as the UK prices tend to be higher.
Just enjoy the hunt etc.

I have been told that In the Bahamas it can fairly easy to get hold of a Patek Nautilus/Aquanaut.
Spend £40k on the holiday or cruise and a couple of these and you should get a reasonable return.
Of course this all assumes that they will have them available.
I think someone was winding you up...Spend £40k on the holiday or cruise and a couple of these and you should get a reasonable return.
