Trying too hard...NA548

I am trying to get my 280DH running for the weekend..just bought two wheel bearings to get the two seals (to complete the job today) and now need the two seals to make the set up (I know I could have bought the set complete from TVR carparts) BUT, time was of the essence and I now just need to make the second set up. (Ford number 1734675). A@
Adam, my thoughts are that the previous person had been there and tried his best to do that, (old, old seal, convoluted) and most likely the root cause of the bearing failure..it didn't help that the MOT failure picked up the UJ as a failure, BUT 99% of the play was in the inner bearing race, I blindly pulled the rear end apart, swapped a UJ and then reassembled it to then feel the bearing play. I am Waiting for the two bearing kits to arrive ATM. Fingers crossed, MOT tomorrow and to pop across with it. A@
The seal won't do much in this weather it's mainly there to keep the water out, so you can put it together and enjoy the weekend even if the extra ones don't arrive.
I am now torqueing mine to 140lbf when new, drive 20 miles, then retorque to 140 lbf and split pin. It's the Alfa method and I think is a bit kinder to the bearings. Leave off the hubcaps during this procedure, mark the nuts with paint, and take your torque wrench and big socket in the boot.
