Where’s the engine number?

I want to see if I can find the original build spec for my engine. The Griff was built as a 4.3 but subsequently the engine was replaced with some spec of 4.5 (BV or Tuscan race car spec I assume).

So the engine number on the chassis plate on the off side wing is the old engine, where can I find the TVR engine number on the engine?

It was generally stamped over the top of the original Rover engine number. Look on the passenger side (RHD) between the middle two cylinders, at the top of the block and there is a machined ledge facing you with the numbers stamped on. Google "Rover V8 engine number located" under Google Images and ye shall find.
