Hi - I plan to buy a 2001 plate 530i M sport tomorrow but would really like to fit 18 inch E39 M5 alloys (I also have my eye on).

Questions is will they fit (standard wheels are 17's) I have read somewhere that M5 arches are rolled and are not the same as other E39's?

To clarify the M5 wheels I am looking at are dressed in the following run flats.

Fronts 245/40/R18
Rears 275/35/R18

Thanks in advance.

They’ll fit fine pal

I run E31/38 Style 37s on my E39 with 245/40 & 275/35 tyres and with 5mm hubcentric shims, no rubbing at all smile

There’s no difference in arches, but there is a difference in the wheel arch liners...

But you’ll be fine wink

If they are run flats get them off these cars never came with them, so normal tyres will suit better. They will make the ride harder as an E39 Sport is already in decent, firm suspension

Oh, and it’s Sport FYI, not M Sport, that came with the E60s and beyond; no idea why haha

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes 530i sport as you say, anyhow I bought the car so I am half way there.

I just realised the alloys for sale are gloss black as opposed to the shadow chrome that I really wanted.

Reading up on it appears this finish is very difficult to replicate as it's a complex process.

I'll have to have a good look on Google for inspiration.

Feel free to come and join us over on the 5 forums: https://forum.bmw5.co.uk/

There's a huge wealth of knowledge on there and quite a few folk that have used one specific company (can't remember their name) to get the right finish on their Style 65s (shadow chrome)

Lepsons can do this. They did mine and they're indistinguishable from the OE ones from the factory.
