What a pigs job getting the radiator out. Having it recored but not even willing to think how to get it back in again...... It's all very narrow with the moutings on the side scraping the body inside the engine bay. No fun! Any tips appreciated. Should I have it reoored or get a new one?

Years since I did one but it came out and went back in no problems on mine. IIRC the bottom comes out first, did you do it that way?

Just cut a bit off the end of the mounting or if you’re having a rad made, ask for the mounts to be made with an open fork that you can put a washer over. Easy.

Was planning to ask exactly that.

My radiator was knackered and to save messing around getting it re-cored (did that last time and it didn’t last more than 5 years) I replaced it with a new alloy radiator and new fans. What a difference. The car runs cooler, the fans when they do kick in keep the temperature well below 90 degrees. This is not cheap but it works perfectly.

I went with a re-core and made it a triple. Had the same ball ache and swearing until I realised there is a trick to it. Swivel it in, don't try and pull it straight out!
