What’s the difference on a 500 with the fleet bit at the front?, can I use an exhaust without this piece?, are they the same size and length?

OK. I give up.

What is a 'Fleet bit'?

Are you talking about the flexible bit. Those were fitted to avoid vibration which shakes the exhaust. Most prevalent in the 500s but present with others. My 400 does not have the flexible section and I have exhaust shake at 80-90 mph. I've often thought of retrofitting one as the shake will cause damage eventually. Of cause I never travel at 80-90 mph so it's not a problem wink

Sorry about that, stupid phone and it’s auto correct , it’s should have read as “flexible bit”, I am considering buying a used sleeved pipe to see if I like the sound , is it likely to cause a problem?

It'll be fine, lots of Chim/Griffs driving around without them. If you suffer exhaust shake you can buy flexi sections on ebay. You just need to find someone to weld it in
