I have bought a non runner aprilia rx50 childs motocrosser for my daughter, and I have it running and riding well, but getting parts and information on it is a nightmare. The confusion is because aprilia make a moped called the rx50.
The 2 local aprilia dealers say they cant find any information on it and that it probably is a chinese or italian bike that someone has put aprilia stickers on it, but it also has aprilia s. p. a markings on the frame that look original and I can see plenty of others for sale exactly the same advertised as aprilias. Does the childs motocrosser maybe have a different internal model designation the dealers dont know about?
its quite similar to a lem or malaguti and it has a slightly different variation of the morini s6s, but there are enough frame and running gear differences to know it isnt one of those.
managed to get all of the bits I need so far but my main worry is when I need brake pads, the brakes seem different to every other variation of this formula. does anyone know what this thing is called and where to get parts and a service manual?
The thing is a wee cracker, sach shock, marzocchi forks, good brakes and handles well, Is had been left outside for a few years and the crankcases and gearbox were full of water but electrolysis saved the day and have the thing running well with new seals etc and a new chain for under £200 all in, so want to keep it tip top. Going to sandblast and paint the wheels and exhaust and swingarm.
