Big comfy petrol manual estate car.

I want a big comfy petrol manual estate car, does not have to be very very fast, but not slow, needs to be comfy, no 19" wheels, needs to be big.

Like an old Volvo 240, but newish.

Budget? Dunno, whatever it takes to get me what I want.

I thought that would be the answer, but, the newest are 10 years old now, its chucking money into something that is getting into banger territory.

Alright then, Saab 9-5 wagon. Cheap enough now you can bin it if it misbehaves. Mine cost me 1500, all bushes etc done. 140k but still tight and comfy, comedy quick barge.

Last one I had was bigger than my previous car (V70) and one before that (Audi Avant) and the one before that (240) and the one before that (Granada).
Any age you want, they've been making them since 1993.

I'd like to getaway from the old banger thing, my dad's got a nice 9-5 estate, except at the moment the autobox inhibitor in the gearshift is playing up so it won't start and the part is not available....

Hmm, the Mundano, I'll have a look. My last one caught fire, followed a Sierra estate to work this morning, must be the only one on the Isle of Wight. Loved both the Sierra's I had.

Argh. That is the one thing I would compromise on.

Been down the old German route with E28's and R129 over a long period and many happy miles, but there always comes a point where it gets complicated by lack of parts, or issues unravelling.

I rented a Vauxhall Insignia Estate a while back and was pleasantly surprised. Should be a good selection available and relatively cheap to run.

True, although it can be the devil's own job to find a petrol one.

OP: Toyota Avensis? Honda Accord? The Mk7 Accord estates look a bit bread van but they're vast. (Although check for wheelarch rust)
