I’m off over to the Isle of Man for three days next week on the bike.

I’ve been over numerous times for the TT but never out of TT fortnight and it’s the first time on a bike for me.

A silly question maybe but I just wanted to know whether the TT course route is signposted all year round so us visitors know which was to follow it?

Secondly if anyone has any suggestions as to places to visit whilst I’m there then please let me
Know,

Cheers

I went a week or so before the TT and all the track was setup - crash barriers, etc

Take a ride over "The Sloc" it's one very, very fast road, deristricted for most of it. Goes from Port Erin towards Foxdale over the tops, look for the A36. Best done early doors or late evening but watch out for the odd cyclist. Not quite as good a blast as over the mountain but quieter and still an adrenalin rush. It's my ride out of choice as I live very close by.
Gratuitous video of me driving my Lotus up the bottom bit which is used as a hill climb course sometimes.

Looks great, will try that on my next visit..... and an Elise the perfect car for the roads. Initially i thought "hes going a bit quick for open roads" then realised it was a closed hillclimb event smile

Absolutely love this place, weather permitting!

Been 5 times during either practice or TT race week. The locals are great people and so friendly, and the island itself is breathtakingly beautiful.

Riding in a derestricted zone is the ultimate buzz... just ensure you adhere to speed limits where indicated as the police are very strict. Remember the mountain will be two-way outside of the TT!

My favourite section of road is the above link, from the Gooseneck across to the Creg. Turn left before the pub, enjoy a coffee there with spectacular views and then find your way via back roads to the coast road taking you back to Ramsey.

Another good road is if you take a right before the pub at Ballaugh Bridge (assuming you are riding in the direction of the course) as you can make your way through the centre of the island up to Bungalow and the road will be very quiet with great photo opportunities.

There is no place quite like it, particularly given the fact you can legally ride as fast as you want in places. Have an awesome trip!

There's a cafe underneath a gay club in Douglas which does great breakfast.

Having been a few times myself all of the above I'd say is spot on

A36 is great when the mountains closed. I will also add definitely keep around the 30ish limit in town they can be really funny

When I go again I'll do classic or any time not in practice and race week when they absolutely flood the place with 50 limits and remove every national

I think found a few weeks after you get a higher chance of good weather too. Beautiful place but a bit frustrating when it rains daily

Thanks for all the replies and ideas everyone.

I’m taking in the Southern 100 whilst I’m there and as it’s the first time on the bike I’m proper excited.

I’m praying that the rain stays away but early indications are that it’ll at least be dry.
