Unfortunately I live in the lawless cess pit that is London. There seems to be an increase in the theft of cat converters from cars, including from my work car park.

Are the cats on a 991 easily accessible? Or does the fact that the engine is in the wrong place make it more difficult?

Just need to figure out whether I should take a different car when working late.

Thanks

They'd have to get the rear bumper off first and then the exhaust which probably has rusted bolts on it by now knowing the quality of nuts and bolts Porsche specify! You're safe as houses!

You’d like to think so, wouldn’t you I ?
But normal rules of engagement don’t apply ...
One of these :

(nicked, obviously) and ten minutes would see the necessary section of the rear bumper cut way and the cats cut out. That’s after the f*ckwits have put a trolley jack through the crankcase jacking it up ...

Easier to just pop underneath the BMW parked next to you though and steal theirs instead.

I'm assuming they get the same amount of money from a cat whether its a Ferrari or a Ford?
So hopefully easier to target a car that doesn't need to have its bumper hacked off.

the cat elements on the 991 are ceramic.
Thieves are after the metal version

As I understand it, both ceramic and metallic substrate based catalytic converters utilise palladium, rhodium and platinum.
