A few months back I discovered a hole on the cam cover just bellow the seal my problem injector is seated on. I presume the hole can't be "patched up" so a replacement would be needed.
The car is an 05 Peugeot 307 SW 1.6 HDI with full service history from 06-17.
Anything that's needed replacing, has been, which includes a new clutch in October 2017, around 1,416 miles ago frown
The car has done 122,239 miles in total.

Does anyone know roughly how much a mechanic would charge to replace the head?

Cheers in advanced

Only place a new, maybe exchange ,cylinder head will be available will be main dealer.
That is not going to be cheap.
A second-hand engine may be cheaper.

Where abouts are you based? I presume having a second hand head that is skimmed/rebuilt is the option rather than a new unused head which from Peugeot would probably cost the same as a cars value.

At a guess a head can be bought for 100-200quid, 50quid to get it skimmed pressure tested, 50quid for head gasket kit, 50 quid for old filter am coolant and around several hours labour which takes it into the £500-700 region depending if it's a mates rates or garage rates

Is it just a leaky injector?

Got a quote for 579 for full service, mot and fitting of all replacement parts but I have to supply the parts, including gaskets. now all I have to do is trawl the net to find out what gaskets are needed!
Comes to about £752 in total
