.... had a knock on the door at 8:30 yesterday evening & somebody asked if we had a cat. They had just followed a car that had hit our bengal & just driven off. It's a quiet country lane & you can go ages without anything going past.

Poor thing was just lying in the lane. I went to him & he was totally lifeless, Totally intact. Just picked him up & carried him in. At least it must have been instant. But feel so angry that the person just drove off.

Other 2 moggies are getting a lot of fuss this morning. cry

Been there. Lost our little Merlot the same way. It's awful.

Take some comfort in it must have instant. No suffering at all.

Thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear this. We lost our Ginger Tom in the same way a couple of years back. Small village, minor road, hidden entrances etc yet cars go tearing through with little thought.

So sorry to hear that. It's no consolation but I'm glad someone had the understanding to let you know - the same happened to one of mine years ago only I had to search the local area for two days before finding her in some bushes by a busy road. Every minute of those two days, I expected her to walk through the door. Also it may be the case that the driver didn't know?

Who me ?

So sorry. It is not much consolation but at least there was no suffering. His soul will come back to you when you are both ready.

Said goodbye to him this morning.

As I carried him to the car in his basket, the other 2 cats came out of the bushes , as if they knew & wanted to say goodbye as well. I put the basket down & they both came to it.

Thank you for the kind words.

Sad morning for you and the other two cats.

It’s good they said goodbye

It is good that you let the others say goodbye, they will mourn but at least they know what happened.

Sincere commiserations for your loss Rob, it's horrid. Maybe purchase some reflective collars for the other two as a safeguard?
