injector extension adaptors
Discussion
How do all.
So the new injectors are here and as suspected they are indeed 10mm shorter than the old ones.
Not a huge issue as you can get injector extension tubes. Or is it.....?
Edit: these: https://www.advancedautomotives.com/11mm-male-to-1...
Well, I thought I was going to be putting the extensions on the bottom of the injectors, as I want to still be able to clip the injectors to the fuel rail because the fuel rail clamp brackets are, well, a bit crap, and there's about 60lbF trying to push the rail off the top of those 8 injectors. Hmmmmm, apparently injector extensions have to go above the injectors.
I guess this is because if you shroud the pintle too much, the spray pattern impinges on the extension adaptor and rather than a mist you get a dribble... Rather like putting a telephoto lens hood on a wide angle lens.
Balls.
Any experience using hurriedly mass manufactured gaudily anodised bits of pipe to make injectors fit?!
I'd be grateful for the benefit of anyone's experiences here.
Thank you.
Ed.
P.S. Although I do realise that it is well known that the anodise on the injector extensions makes lots of oxygen which boosts power - same as those bits of biscuit tin folded into spiky shapes that you bung into the inlet pipe to increase turbulence - you know, the ones that come free on the front cover of Max Power when they aren't foisting freebie laminated (spunk-proof) soft porn posters onto their "readership". Time for my medication now.

I only ask because a bought a used, but cleaned and matched, set of Cerbera injectors a few months ago, thinking they might come in useful.
They haven't so far, and I don't know if they are a straight swap into a Chimaera.
But if they would be useful I would only want the £50 I paid for them, plus postage.
They will be good for 400 bhp, but might require you to have an ECU remap - on this last point I simply don't know.
They are presently residing at my TVR specialist, and if you want them i could ask him a) if they would fit and b) would they require a remap.

Thank you, but Im gonna persevere - although fifty notes for a good set of 8 injectors is a good price.
Ah buggrit, maybe I'll make a pair of custom fuel rails.
After my dad having his 928S4 catch fire due to a dodgy fuel hose, AND me owning an aircooled VW, I'm a bit anally retentive about fuel fires...
I can be a sod for scope creep in these projects!
