Driving to Italy

I am driving down to the Italian lakes soon. Whilst I have done this trip several times before, it is the first time in the Chimaera.
I have read 'the Bible' "touring" section. Has anyone any further advice on spares to carry?
Are there are any specialists or dealers in Europe in case of emergency?
As Optimax is not always available, any tips on petrol?

Hoping not to tempt fate for you, but been to Venice twice in a 97 500 Chimaera and onto Elba once -- not a bother on any trip of any consequence -- though the garage attendent ba pizzale Roma in Venice was pissed off with my alarm going off with some damp short circuting it so that he pulled the wires out.
Fuel didn't notice it - most stations have high octane pumps.
Other than that its all plain sailing and very enjoyable - with the roof off and in the boot with space for wine and good food as well - unlike our siblings in thier Gremlins - I mean Griffins.

Loads of 99/100Ron available, mine particularly liked an AGIP variety.
Theres an excellent anglophile LR/Jag/Ford service near Munich, staff are at Gardasee most weekends, let me know if you would like a contact.
German ADAC (their version of AA) give annual cover for @£50 which also provides AA cover in UK.. I've had it for years, luckily never needed it.

Travelled to N. Italy 3 Yrs ago in 4.0 Chim.
Threw out space saver& took 2 x cans tyre weld.
Spoke to my local TVR Dealer before going & he "lent" me a kit of fuses, relays bulbs etc. all in a nice box. also took a new drive belt ( driving alternator, power steering etc.) Took out AA 5 star cover & made a note of "foreign" TVR R.O's on route just in case Had no problems & a great time.

I've just come back from over 3000 miles, down to Ostuni (far south of Italy) and back via Cote d'Azur. No major issues. I took the bible and a load of spares (fuses, throttle cable, serpentine belt) and some basic tools, plus European breakdown cover. Didn't need any of it but I'd rather be prepared.
As for petrol, everywhere (and I mean absolutely everywhere) had 98+RON, so don't worry. If you're desparate 95 will do until you can get some proper fuel in it.
The looks/stares/pigeon English questions made it all worthwhile.
