I had been worried that I had larger ignition issues with hot running, but a quick clean of the stepper motor and she seems to be running great.

My old symptoms was rough running in lower revs when hot. I think the stepper motor was not sealing properly and generally leaking. It was not even finger tight when I went to remove it for cleaning.

I have a new temp sensor coming from the UK, but I may just leave that on the shelf.

Yes it may be best to keep hold of the sensor as a spare, if it aint broke you can't fix it
