Non-starter horrible grinding noise

Can anyone advise me on what this noise may point to?

Haha, yeah.. my question is if anyone’s got any tips on why it doesn’t, why it makes that particular noise.. that kind of thing!

Perhaps if we had a bit more info about the car & its history for starting & leading up to the issue we may stand a better chance.

I am guessing it is a 4-pot diesel.

I am guessing you have been trying for a while as your battery is struggling to turn it over.

Alternatively your battery could be on its way out and can't turn it over fast enough.

My money is on it being a petrol. 1 series, E8x.
