I've just moved from dial-up with Freeserve/Wanadoo to broadband with Plusnet - great! But, my old fsnet e-mail address, with loads of contacts using it, no longer works with Outlook Express. Well it receives okay, but it won't send. I get a message saying "550 administrative prohibition" with a port number and it says the address of the destination has been rejected. If I send to anyone this happens but only through OE - webmail still works. Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you set up the POP3 and SMTP settings correctly?

What Phil is saying is that since you have moved from Wanadoo to PlusNet, you need to go into the email account setting for you Freeserve account and change the Outgoing (SMTP) server address to that of PlusNet's server, not Wanadoo's. Alternatively, leave the server setting on Wanadoo's server and go to the part of the Freeserve account setup that says' My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication', enable it and tell it to use the same username/password as for incoming mail. You'll see what I mean when you go there.

With most ISP's you can only access the outgoing mail servers of the ISP you are connected to. So now you are connected to PlusNet, you need to use their servers for outgoing mail, not Wanadoo's. The authentication method I mention above is a way around this restriction.

Thanks, both. I'll try that.
