Spotted this about 2:15pm on the new Bordon bypass (A325).

Looks like the Porsche just burst into flames. Hoping no one was injured, there was no ambulance. Looks like the chap is standing in front of his wrecked pride and joy while firefighters are checking it (let us know the story if this is your vehicle!).

Could you tell what age it was? An early 90s Porsche passed me on the A3 heading south around 1pm and it sounded lovely, but it was smoking a little from the engine. Hopefully it wasn't the same car as it did look stunning.

Hard to tell accurately from the pic but looks like a 993, so your early 90’s would fit that.

Guessing late 90s/early 00s however it was driving towards the A3 direction on the A325 so perhaps not the same.

Lovely though they are I think 993’s have a few oil leak issues. Hot oil on a hot engine can do that...

Er, no. 964's (used to have one) are known to leak more, but due to the engine design, all over the undertray/floor, not the engine.

Erm ...read my post Einstein. No one is interested in how leaky your old 964 was. 993s dump oil on the heat exchangers amongst other things.

...Some of you guys could cause an argument in an empty room.

My 964 drops oil onto the HE's as well. Not a good smell.

are we sure this was an oil leak - because the front of it looks a bit wonky to me?

I thought some 993s had wiring loom recalls and causing fire, not sure its related to this particular accident though?

Think you guys need to nip to that well known discount optician.

Unless the fire caused by engine oil leaking onto the heat exchangers caused the driver to drive into a stationary object thereby distressing the front end.
