Hi guys,

I have a budget of 10k for a classic car. My first car was a Nova MK2 and I absolutely love them however I have always wanted a 205GTI. I've seen both for my budget that need little work. My question is, as I like them both equally as much, which do you think would be the better investment? (ie go up in value the most)

205 GTI they're the best early hot hatch, still look amazing and have the most appeal (even than a Mk1 Golf GTi). The Nova is in the 2nd Division in comparison.

I know there was a Nova in a Spotted post recently for £16k but surely the 205 has a much broader appeal (as an investment).

205 GTi most definitely. Surefire investment if you get a good one. I’m a serial restorer of these and know them inside out, so if you want any advice, I’m always happy to help. I’m sure many people on here would have owned one at some point though!

I'd definitely go for a 205 GTi ahead of any Nova.

If you really want a Vauxhall, it has to be an Astra GTE, or better still a GSi with a red-top!

Nova Sport was an easy match against the early 1.6 205 GTI, twin 40's and a cam made the 1.3 quite impressive for the time, more so as a first car for me.
Finding one now would be the issue.

Bit like the LHD drive only 205 Rallye that Harris owns with a twin carb 1360

Can I vote for the Nova? Chuck a C20XE or C20LET in and they're a little rocket ship. If you're going for a standard car then I'd pick the 205.
