Hi, for those that have dropped the body back on to the chassis; is there much room between the glass fibre trans tunnel against the chassis rails? As I'm looking at increased sound reading and heat shielding.

The original existing stuff is still attached to the tunnel and in varying state. I hope to retain this AND apply some 5/6mm sheeting I bought off Wollies last week to the chassis rails.

Will they both fit is the question???

If you mean the rail below the manifolds then no. If you wrap the rail 6mm it will get scraped off as the body goes on.
Once the body is in place you could get the insulation around the rail.

...wow, multiple uploads!

Anyway, it's this area I'm looking at adding the shielding to before the body goes back on.

You could source a heat insulating blanket.

7TVR did this on his LS engined Griff.

I could understand lining the GF of the tunnel underside but fail to see why you would wrap the chassis rail in that area.
In either case with the brake line down the outside of the chassis you have already used the available space.

I'm looking at covering the entire back bone, similar to dropping a blanket over it and then drop the body over it keeping the original FG tunnel shielding (if posssible), and that's the question, is the boddy/tunnel a already a right to?....or is there room to keep the original and add extra insulating material directly to the chassis backbone.

Sorr, I'm not sure if ive explained myself clearly.

..I don't want to go to the hassle/waste of cutting and fitting my insulation to find when the chassis goes back to the garage to get the body married back that it will longer simply drop on as I've bulked out the backbone of the chassis too much :-(

Sound proofing, barely worth it if you ask me. The noise doesn’t come from above the chassis!

...it's heat shielding as well.

There's a company in Europe called VT something or other who do a full tuscan style chassis blanket, someone on here will know the link.
Here are some pictures of what I have for heat proofing sound proofing is under the carpet.

Cool. I'm looking at doing exactly what you've done.....but on the outside!
I guess by the fact they're attached to the inner backbone probably indicates that's where they need/can go.

Take a look at the VT site there's in on the outside and is a good price, if I had seen it before my was done I would have bought one

I lined the inside of my tub under the carpet with two layers of Dynomat, different products for sound and heat.

I would say soundproofing works up to a point but just softens the sound, certainly not proofing!

As for the heat shielding , I did not notice any difference at all!

Alls I can say is, due to the design of the car don't expect miracles.

Recent driving in the heat makes me think that TVR has got a hidden fan heater in each of the footwells which is only automatically switched on when the temperature reaches about 25° in traffic. I have yet to be proved wrong!
