Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could recommend any advanced driving schools to learn the limits of your Elise? My boyfriend has been talking about going on one of these track days since buying his car and as his birthday is coming up I thought it would be a good present.

Distance isn't a problem but would be handy if anyone can recommend a venue located in the South East.

The first lotus day is held at North Weald airfield and is a good day out and you do learn a lot.

1st Lotus/Andy Walsh is a cracking day.

Only problem is, last time I checked he was booked up until September.

Hi elisebabe,

1stLotus for sure - Andy Walsh is the instructor, location is North Weald airfield in Essex. www.carlimits.com is where you can view vacancies and book.

If you get him a SELOC (South East Lotus Owners Club) membership www.seloc.org he'll also get loads of discounts on insurance, parts, servicing etc. and will get a discount on the first carlimits/1stLotus training day.

Well worth £28!

...and come along to the SELOC south east meets - see the SELOC forums for info or email me and I'll give you details. Great club, fun bunch, lots going on this summer.

Great, thanks everyone!

Just looking at the 1stLotus site and they only seem to have weekdays available. Do they not offer training at the weekends then?

You could also try Plans Motorsport at Dunsfold near Guildford on 01483 280036 or www.plansmotorsport.com
I was chatting to them last week about their driver training while having my geo done.
It initially seems a bit steep at £200 for a couple of hours but you get a half hour briefing, an hour on the Top Gear circuit on-to-one with an instructor covering whatever you want to learn. Plus you're also the only car out there.
Subsequent courses are about £30 cheaper.
The Car Limits course is well worth doing as well, the things Walshy can make your car do beggars belief !

Can partners come along to the member events too? They look like a lot of fun and would like to join in if I'm allowed. Though not sure if my boyfriend will let me come!

Totally, those with partners generally bring them, and the girls even have their own driver training sessions with Andy Walsh (Lipstick Lotus Days) so you'd be in good company. If you come over to the SELOC site I'm "TimFreeman" and there are plenty of people over there who will welcome you to the gang.

Some of the SELOC crew post on here too, Boggy, Mrs Boggy, Kevin Ritson, bogie etc.
