Hi there,

Would anyone have recommendations for places offering mini-motocross motorbikes experiences for kids, from 6-year old? Ideally in Surrey/Sussex or reasonably close to Southwest London?

My 6-year old missed out on the GAS motorbikes experience at the Festival of Speed at the weekend... and still traumatised!!

Thanks

I would hazzard a guess and say most if not all places will have a minimum age requirement of around 10/12 years old for H&S and/or insurance purposes, so you might struggle to find somewhere.

Look for some electric ones? There is a track in Glasgow (not Surrey unfortunately) that suits ages 5-12 and adult ones too.

A little further afield just outside Dover (Kent) there is this place that accepts 6 year olds:

I got my first bike (50cc Yamaha motorcrosser) for my 6th birthday, been riding nearly 30 years now so definitely an experience I'd recommend.

EDIT:
There also used to be a place over Chesington way, but I can't seem to find a website for it. Might be worth having a bit of a search around or if you do the whole bookface thing, popping some posts on motorcrosser groups; the vast majority of those chaps are decent and happy to help although you do get the odd knob as in all walks of life.

If you were closer to Leeds I'd recommend BUMPY. My Son learned to ride off road there and it still has challenges for older Trials Riders. They run Petrol and Electric Bikes Trials and Trail style. At 6 he might be limited to Electric OSET bikes but it is worth asking if you can get here.

Providing they can ride a pushbike, they can ride an MX bike.

I took mine to Washbrook Farm in Cambs (which is a bit far from you), but they have kit, instruction and various bikes for all sizes to hire. You can then work out what suits you both before committing to buy!

Most MX tracks also have a kids track, and if they don;t do it in house, there's usually a company they can recommend who do bike loans and instruction...

Thanks for that! Been looking at getting my 8yr old on a motorbike and that would be perfect for him to try out
