Speed Ca in France - do you only get a ticket in a hire car?

We've just returned from France in our own UK registered car. Got flashed by a mobile speed camera on the way to the ferry. Do you only get a ticket with a hire car, or do they now pursue UK registered vehicles? I got flashed two years ago in my own car and recieved nothing in the post.

This change is dated May 2017, and I got flashed in September 2017, and nothing came through. Maybe I was just lucky! I live in hope...

It's because a large number of cameras in France have been destroyed and they've put the staff that would be processing French residents fines into processing foreign registered cars instead otherwise they'd have virtually nothng to do.
