Hi there,

In my what feels like endless search for a new car I'm looking for a bit of advice, requirements & driving routine as follows;

Circa 15k miles per year, avg 70 miles per day commute.
Require Petrol with decent MPG 50+
Not huge mileage or age - something less than 50k and 2014 or newer
5 door with some decent space, but space isn't priority - comfort & handling would be!
Manual or Auto, not fussed.
Prefer to have something interesting to drive, with a bit of punch too it..

On my list currently;
14/15 plate Audi A3 5dr 1.4L TFSi 150PS CoD
16/17 plate Vauxhall Astra 5dr 1.4L 150PS - mostly ruled this one out...

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks
Dan

In all honesty with your requirements I'd be buying a diesel the extra torque & will make for a more relaxed drive, with this in mind these are my picks:

DS5 Prestige 180

TDCI Focus ST-3 185

A3 184 S Line

All the above are ULEZ compliant so future proof to a certain degree.

Nothing wrong with those recommendations and the A3 looks good, but when on earth did this trend of dealers posting macro images of others humans detritus all over a vehicle become acceptable (see the images of the mirror switch and centre console). Very poor show by Inchcape who should definitely know better! Reminds me of when Top Gear took 3 old BMWs for forensic analysis!
