Spiders or 4.5 17s?

Can't make my mind up what wheels will suit the car best. See my profile - it's a sort of mid green colour. I've already picked up a set of 4.5 alloys to have refurbished, but then I saw a set of anthracite spiders at TMS and they looked superb. Or should I get the 4.5 alloys refurbed in anthracite? What do you reckon?

Keep the RL17s and have them anthracited (is that a real word?) Great looking wheels.

I think it depends on the look that you want. Personally I think the 17" alloys would be great in anthracite, as the two together look very purposeful and workmanlike (in a good way ). The 18" spiders are a bit more flamboyant and look good as they are in silver.

Anyone know any good refurb places? Was going to use Lap Tab in Brum, but anyone around the Nottingham / Midlands area would be great...

keep the 17's, but i wouldn't get them anthracited. I like contast on a car. Dark car, alloy/polished wheels. Light coloured car, then dark wheels are fine. My opinion sorry.

Hate 2 see black cars and black wheels.

I'd agree with Kojak on that one!

I think spiders look best, I've got the 17's on mine and I always think they look a bit small in pictures.

Spiders only if you have a light conversion if not keep it as it was meant to be.
I don't think they look right if you mix IMHO

17's for me. I quite like that with the Speed12 headlights. Gives the car a more aggressive look IMO.

I know this is only my opinion, but when looking for my car it had to have spiders. I just felt the other wheels look to small proportion wise. The larger wheels bring the whole car off better and don't make it look so long. Plus the spiders are a lovely wheel... unless you regularly have to park close to kerbs!!

Yep i agree - keep the 17" ones . When i get mine refurbed, am considering getting them done in Anthracite too

- 4.5 17" wheels look great and crack easily

- 18" spiders look great and buckle

personally I have the buckled ones - will be going to TVR motion to get some alternatives soon!

Personally I'm for 17" RLs on cars with original headlights and 18" Spiders on cars with the new design lights.

Then others have other alternatives, some look great, and some dont!!

I think if you black chromed the RL17s, they would look awesome, and then get your callipers painted in chrome effect. Oh and then make sure your tyre sidewalls are oiled regularly, would look feckin awesome. The Spiders are softer and thinner by half an inch which limits tyre width on the rear, and they buckle very easily. I'd say spend the dosh getting the wheels refurbed and callipers painted too, IMO of course.

I've mocked up a shot in photoshop of a set of anthracite spiders and they looked wicked, but I take on board Ash's comments about strength (and I don't really want to run lock stops anyway).

Interesting to read that Spiders are thought to be flimsy, though, most people warn of dire problems with the RL alloys (the cracking problems were limited to the 18-inch versions as I understand it).

I reckon a light anthracite colour is the way to go...

There was a few batches that were faulty. The rest are ok. Your car would have been recalled if it was affected, you can check up with TVR, just give them the VIN number to make sure all recall work has been done to it.

A light anthracite will look ok, but a tad dull, black chrome is similar to a deep anthracite colour but flash bang bling when the lights bounce off it! Trust me! If you're gonna get them refurbed - ask for that colour!!! Its roughly the same cost too. Best way is to walk into a wheel shop and see if they have a black chrome wheel in stock, you'll see what I mean.
