Hi,
I’m fairly rubbish at googling, but I’m quite surprised that I can’t find many, if any, direct comparisons between the previous generation BMW 630i convertible and Mercedes E350 cgi cabrio.

I’m looking at an early facelift 630i, around 2008/2009, or an early E350, around 2010 or so. The Merc doesn’t necessarily need to be the 350, I’d consider the E250 or even E200, but I like some of the extras that seem to come on the 350 like the wind scarf tech which the lower models don’t seem to have.

Plus for the BMW is that I like the lightweight engine, I’ve driven it and it has typical good big bmw handling, has got all the tech and extras that I’d need, I’m familiar with the controls and idrive, and I actually like the controversial looks.

However upside of the Merc is the wind scarf tech is a nice touch, the big front spoiler is good for roof down, I haven’t driven it but I’m sure it will drive like a big comfy Merc, and I think it’s a good looking car that isn’t as marmite as the bmw.

Anyone have any experience of the cars that can offer any advise of opinion?
I think I’m leaning more to the BMW but still divided.

I have an E400 in A207 facelift and it is superb. Would highly recommend a test drive of the 350 petrol.
If it has 18 or 19 inch wheels ensure it's got the active suspension.
The aircap system is a bit weird looking when up but being in the car you can't see it, and is incredibly effective, the folks in the back get a bit of breeze but nothing compared to a normal 4 seat converitible.

IMO the 6 series convertible is large, bit shouty and a bit look me i'm a rich Ba$tard. The merc blends in and is a bit of a sleeper, discreet.

I did seriously consider the 6 series before I saw one in the flesh and I didn't like the image of it.

Of course, totally personal choice and opinion.
