Panamera G1 Petrol only buying advice

Hi All,

I’m very excited to be looking at Porsche for a family wagon having sold the idea to the family.

Saddest car related day was selling my 997 and always enjoyed the Panamera courtesy cars.

Currently have a 2015 Audi S4 Avant and original Audi S8. Looking to change to a Golf GTE for daily duties and a petrol Panamera for the weekends and trips.

So, please can you help with the following:

1 - other than looks, what is the difference mechanically and any known faults from a gen 1 (up to 2012) and gen 2 (up to 2016) for the v6, V8 and GTS. Assume Turbo tuning costs will be too much

2 - budget of around £40k and probably only 5k miles per year (all long weekend trips), what would you go for? Ps I hate suv’s and diesel...

3 - I’ve seen some nice gen1 GTS, 2012 models. Can the rear lights be fitted with a facelift style look? Appreciate OEM’s are a different shape so won’t fit.

4 - will running costs be much different from a 997 out of warranty?

5 - anything else worth considering?
