I’m currently shedding about in a Saab 9-3 Aero whilst I’m being sensible. The plan was to keep this for at least a year and that milestone is approaching in a few months. This was my first estate and I’m set on replacing it another. Much more practical than a saloon and somehow more discreet.
I have a hankering for another V8 car again and the W204 C63 AMG seems to fit the bill. I discounted the saloons back when I bought my first ISF due to the rudeboy image at the time thanks to the type of numpties that owned them. Thankfully they have all moved on to Golf Rs and Audi RS3s.
There don’t seem to be many estates for sale. My budget would get me into a 08/09 pre facelift car with around 70-80k on the clock. Is there anything in particular that I should look out for on them aside from the headbolt and cam lobe issue? What are running and servicing costs like? My 9-3 isn't exactly stellar having averaged 23.5MPG over 4000 miles and as it’s an 08 it has the higher road tax.
Are there any must have options? I’m ideally looking for a darker coloured car (but not black) with a sunroof, powered tailgate and the 18” wheels. I’ve read that the LSD is a recommended option but there seem to be aftermarket options available.
The interior seems a bit dated now, does anyone know if there are any aftermarket units or devices that can add apple play to the prefacelift stereo?

I looked at one last year which was an estate with a shade under 100k on the clock but condition wise it looked amazing, I didn't find the interior particularly dated but then I've never owned a brand new car to compare to.
Ultimately I didn't buy it put off by the head bolt issues but more I had no confidence in the dealer, I felt they were a bit fly by night and I walked away, I still think what if most days though, I ended up putting my money into a cheaper Volvo V60 which I have no real feeling about at all really, which is disappointing, definitely regret not buying the C63
