Hi,

I’m in my first 570s, bought from main dealer last year with a years warranty. Just starting to think about whether to shell out for another warranty come service time in a few months or take the risk.

Two factors - a) main factor is i intend to track it occasionally when I’m not racing, which I believe may invalidate the warranty (I haven’t got the time or inclination to do pre/post track inspection) and b) less important but I fancy getting it chipped, which again I’m thinking will invalidate warranty.

I’m sure there must be others like myself who track it occasionally but haven’t the time to do the pre/post inspection - do you guys still pay for the warranty?

I guess another factor is whether there are any independents in the Surrey area (Guildford) who can do work on the car thus reducing maintenance bills - anyone know of anyone? Obviously relying on main dealers to do everything could be hideously ££ if not warrantied.

Thanks in advance!

Have you considered speaking to the likes of Thorney, about their aftermarket warranty and whether this would cover things like remaps and track cover? If it is suitable then may be a good half way house of keeping some sort of warranty safety net but being free to use the car as you wish.

Be very interesting to hear what Thorney say re remap and their own warranty. There were a few sport series at VMAX recently which must have been remapped. Ran as quick as 720s..

McLaren take so much power off the table with these. Nice to see they go so well with tuning wink

Actually the quickest 570S was standard as were most others . They were more competitive in relative terms than the 720s due to their engines being less susceptible to the heat that day which seemed to effect the 720s more..

It's also the aerodynamics. The 570S is slower than the 650/720 at lower speeds due to the lower power, but towards the top-end it has better aero as it's not built for downforce in the same way.

Now you can dyno McLarens Thorney, What does the 650 put out as standard and what's a safe level to upgrade to?

I seen in your vids you put your 12c up then down and found the happy medium power wise...

I've asked for the vid of my run against her. Will post up when I have it.

9e manual 997.1 turbo v 570s

Ah makes sense I think on that day tuned cars were suffering more than stock cars. Was hottest VMAX I've ever been to. Fantastic re Thorney upgrades. Will go and have snoop at website smile

This baffled me. I was out with a friend at the weekend in his 720s track pack and me in my 570s track pack. I have a wing also.

We ran a few times rolling from 40/50 and I edged away a tiny bit and then it maintained equal. The only mods my car has is an Akrapovic exhaust. The 720 is standard.

I can’t imagine the exhaust makes much difference.

My car is lighter than usual being a track pack with carbon buckets but....

Very surprised.

We are measuring them at the wheels rather than the flyhweel as the Dyno Dynamics software is calculating drive train losses at 20% and Mclaren state 15% (which is low but not surprising seeing as how good the drivetrain is) there are a load of charts on our website (I'm not allowed to link). We are gaining 120bhp mid range nicely with no issues for many years now, I run 750bhp on my 12c.
