I see it's been to to death on these forums already.
Just flitting some ideas back and forth in my head.
If you saw UPOD as a business name would what would it mean to you?
Is it quirky enough?
Business plan is selling Hydraulic Safety Systems for use on excavators and farm machinery.
I can't use HSS.
UPOD - 'You-POD', Ultimate Protection On Demand. (Means it is turn off and on-able - remember those adverts on the telly - creature comforts?).
UPOD was always mentioned to me as meaning 'Under Promise and Over Deliver' and that is and will be the back bone ethos of the company I'm setting up.
Don't f
k It Up Fit This Instead (DFIUFTI) is also also on the table but 'DFIUFTI' is a bit of a mouthful when you answer the phone.
Thoughts please.

Honestly? Dreadful

As I thought, a few bottles of grog were involved with that idea at the time.
Strangely my 12 year old son thinks it is a 'belter'. (Kids eh? well they are our next purchasers.)
I'm torn people, help me out. I need to be registered in the next few weeks as I have an opportunity to be on a trade stand in October.

One of my businesses has a naming service as part of its offering...it names’ companies, products and services... we have a process and we come up with nice protected, memorable names which won’t infringe other trademarks..
We’re often picking up the pieces after staff competitions and random ideas without research. Mostly at the point where they have received a cease and desist letter from an angry trademark holder..
So for free...start searching on the governments Intellectual Property Office website, it’s very good...you will see Upod and indeed hydrasafe are trademarks...sometimes if your invention is in a totally different class to a trademark, then you can get away with it...sometimes..
It’s a good place to start...then employ an IP attorney to assist you in registering it and protecting it...
Then you can go onto linguistic testing...domain searches etc... again you might be very surprised what your three letter abbreviation or brand might mean in another language...
We had a recent job where a 100 year old accountancy firm had to change their name...which was an old double family name concoction... failed to trade mark it... failed to protect the domain..but a porn star did, relatively recently...a google search didn’t bring up what their potential clients expected...a different kind of money shot...

Selling to farmers? Are they known for their love of quirk? Or are they known for their down to earth, no nonsense approach? Is it quirky enough?

Safety systems is never going to be a sexy business. Don't try to force it, it will not work. This is definitely one for the 'does what it says on the tin' approach.
My business is in a similarly non sexy industry and is just <placename><product name>. No explanation necessary, and cannot be misinterpreted. Why complicate it?
