Anyone ever bought their car before passing the if test? Was it worth it?

Bought my first car about 7 months before I took my test, ran it (completely legally, L pates, competent drivers with me) for 6 months including going on holiday to the lakes with 3 mates for a week, then took 4 lessons and passed first time. It was back in 1981 though, life was simpler back then smile

Not a car, but I had a moped in the garage ready to go on my 16th birthday then a motorbike ready for my 17th!

I certainly didn't regret either, so if you can then why not?

I had my own car 2 months before my 17th birthday. I might have driven it home the day I bought it, but I can't confirm that 😀 it had no mot and needed the brakes fixing so I sorted that and mot'ed it before my birthday and my dad sat with me whilst practicing my driving. Took a few lessons and passed my test 6 weeks after my 17th birthday.
