Hello,

I am located overseas.

I am considering the purchase of a Nissan Skyline in the newcastle area. It is a 25 year old car, being sold through a dealer.

My main concerns are rust and previous damage.

What is the best way to get this independently tested? I believe AA do not do cars more than 15 years old.

If anyone has any tips - whether they are on site or at testing premises, what the cost is, etc etc - it would be greatly appreciated.

The RAC do vehicle inspections but the basic one doesn't cover cars over 10 years old. The middle and top end inspections don't seem to specify.

What about approaching a local specialist, and see if they would be prepared to carry out an inspection for you?

You might get more specific feedback than an AA/RAC inspection, which I suspect will be quite generic.

Something like:

(No idea if they are any good, they're just local to me me).
