I've never considered whether he's the best but I liked listening to what he had to say and how he put it across... Shame he's not on CH4 anymore, I don't want Sky but understand why he jumped ship.

His voice annoys me. He just seems to drone on and on.

I like him, he's clear, informative, knows what he's talking about and he seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Yep, could listen to him all day long, he needs to be in the commentary booth!

The bar is set pretty low at Sky F1, but yeah he is by far the best they have, seems like a good guy.

I agree. Encyclopaedic knowledge of F1, genuine love of the sport. Good at explaining technical stuff without getting too dry.

Met him once and he is also quite funny.

I think that Anthony Davidson is on the mark also.

Ironic that the two guys with least F1 experience make the best TV presenters.

If the opposite were true then Simon LazyB would be a multiple WDC

Sky will love him. He drones on for so long that it fills their otherwise barren channel.
C4 and it highlights require more economy and brevity. And you still get the same info.
Karen can sometimes blather on about some old dross for so long that it goes over some actual action someone shoud be highlighting.
Very annoying and to be fair some of the others do it as well. Director should just tell em to shut their cakehole and cut them off lol.

Davidson and Chandock are placed in the right roles, techie, but explain things in plain english, do the job great.

Ted for his failings is very useful in the pitlane during a session, gets all the info.

Some are just round pegs in square holes.

For example.

Di resta is better in the commentary box than the interview/sidkick role.

Herbert is great when explaining racing incidents, rather than playing the fool, he should be the guy who explains the penalty situations for example when we are racing, he does a fine job in the f2.

Brundle should now be fronting/anchoring the show from the pit lane, (although Simon does a decent job TBF), and should not be doing the pit lane walk as often as he does.

Jenson is a bit green, but with a bit of polish will fill the film away sectors Damon currently does.

Nico, can stay on RTL.

His blatant misinterpretation of the Vettel incident meant I lost a lot of respect for him. I'm guessing he did it to ingratiate Ferrari fans to the detriment of his credibility.

Doubt it... just his opinion in my book, the way he saw it. Nothing more.

agree - why would he look to Ferrari fans? Even if he had bias, which I don’t see.. he was a Red Bull junior IIRC.

I like him. He seems to be a bit of a nerd. He comes over as enjoying the spectacle and it's infectious.

I agree, you could almost be describing Murray Walker.

I posted something similar about a year ago and wasn't met with that much agreement lol.

But yes, I think he makes good, sharp and realistic observations most of the time. He speaks in an informative yet not lecturing manner and also has a good sense of humour and enthusiasm.

Him and Brundle, the rest can be politely asked to shut up and sod off smile

I'm not sure if I'm most surprised that you didn't include Karun, or that you did include Rosberg :/

On the other hand, yes to Brundle + Coulthard. But also with Karun in the pit lane wink
