Indulging in the Friday afternoon car-chat and conversation stumbled across the 964 Turbo.
Such an incredible looking machine with performance that must have set benchmarks at the time.
Did anybody drive one in period - just how ridiculous was the speed?
Interested to hear any recent experiences.
The best turbo variant or impossible to compare with modern Pork?

Remember in summer of 2000 polishing my Nissan 200SX which i got for a bargain 18k brand new...(list price 25k), and a guy i worked up in Aberdeen with rocks up in a 964 Turbo 3.6.....which he paid 35k for.....after much p*ss taking, paying 35K for an old wreck and having to give him a jump start.....i bumped into his son in Norway a couple of months ago.......his Dad sold it for 180k a couple of years ago.......wonder how much my 200SX is worth !!
I had a 964 Turbo 3.6 back in 2001. It was quick, but not by modern standards. They're quite heavy, and have long gearing. They're also quite soft (although obviously that can be changed). It was a fabulous GT car - I used to use it to drive around the country to race tracks when I was in the Cup - but I found it was more fun at about 7/10ths - the wide-body cars don't have the "chuckability" of the standard 911, and even the 3.6 had noticeable lag.
Of course now they're very silly money indeed; at the time I ended up trading mine in against a Mk1 GT3 (which I hated, but that's another story). I think they look fabulous, but then I would say that since I now have a turbo-body 964 cabriolet, which has all the same style and toys, but doesn't even try to be fast.
