I've just bought what i believe to be a Jago Geep but after looking through this site i can find no mention of them having a metal body only Fiberglass, mine has a metal body, fold down windscreen, based on a 1969 Escort 1300 MK1, looks like a Jago Geep is it a Jago Geep? also is there any way of telling if the head has been converted to run on unleaded fuel, any help would be welcome. Thanks
First the sort of bad news. If it has a metal body it is not a Jago. Jago only had fibreglass bodies. Does it have any Jago markings?
It may be a copy or another kit as there were one or two other makes around back when kits were popular some had plywood(or later mdf) bodies some were skinned in either ali or galv steel. It may well be either a Mihindra or Dallas these being production "Jeep" type vehicles.
What is the chassis number (this will help me)
The only way to tell if the head has been converted to run on unleaded is to remove it and have it checked by a reputable engineering company who do heads and they can tell if it has had the correct chromesteel inserted seats and hardened valves (exhaust side only).

Hi Techsec
I'm pretty certain it's not a Mahindra last i saw of them they seemed a fair bit bigger than the one i've got, unfortunatly i cant give you a chassis No at the moment as i've sent the Reg Doc off to Swansea and i cant find any marks on it anywhere, all i can tell you at the moment is that on the Reg Doc it has the Make as a FORD and Model/Type is ESCORT SUPER LIGHT 4X4 UTILITY. The Registration No is POB 890G just incase someone might recognise the number. When i get the Reg Doc back i'll let you know what the chassis No is.
Thanks for your help

It is most likely not a Jago. the chassis number from the MOT cert is most likely the original Ford Escort chassis number. The Jago chassis number starts JJ JK JKE JKC JEN and is usually stamped on the front strut top mount either drivers or passenger side.
Sorry about the Mihindra bit I was in auto pilot (you had said it was Escort based). The V5 is also incorrect regards the descrption because as far as I am aware Ford never made an Escort Super Light 4x4 Utility.
There is a chance it is a "bitsa" vehicle.
Look forward to any further info you can give me.
Have you found any "Jago" markings on the body ie under the windscreen and across the back hatch/panel?
