I’m sure it’s been covered before but just wanted to give a thumbs up for Bikesafe which I did today
The coppers involved were excellent and frankly £45 for 9-3pm is an absolute bargain
More importantly having your riding assessed and some no BS constructive feedback given from someone who clearly knows, could literally be a lifesaver!
In my case clearly too many years of urban warfare commuting have made me a banzai filterer BUT left me a bit too sanguine on the risks of riding like that
Well worth doing 👍

I went to East Molesley... all the instructors I believe were serving police, and all were advanced riders.
interesting the whole SMIDSY thing...when they explain the science of how eyes and brain work, the truth is, they DIDNT actually see you!
if nothing else - never mind riding skills as such, hazard perception was the main take away for me...

Did you have a mixture of Surrey and Sussex instructors?interesting the whole SMIDSY thing...when they explain the science of how eyes and brain work, the truth is, they DIDNT actually see you!

I believe they all have to be advanced and not just standard riders.
I need to book on one whilst the weather is good

yes, all advanced riders
I did this last week, and its probably the best investment in riding i've made.
I've never heard a bad thing about them and all the good stuff is certainly true. I did mine in Rochdale and the copper I went out with was clearly knowledgeable and very experienced. He gave feedback really constructively and I took it on board.
A great way to spend a day and get better at riding.

Once again they're not running it in Scotland at all.
But they are running the usual road safety campaign that makes riders safer by putting speed cameras everywhere that's got long straight bits, coupled with a road surfacing system involves putting loads of gravel down and leaving it for a few days so that traffic compresses it.

I really enjoyed Bikesafe and found it very useful and the police riders wee excellent and great fun. I did mine at The Warren in Bromley- East Molesey is much closer but I didn’t realise they did it from there. I then joined IAM expecting similar levels of instruction but was very disappointed so didn’t bother continuing. I

Did my BikeSafe at The Warren too, all the MET guys there are great and very friendly and knowledgeable. Was quite a good day out and I didnt pay a thing as my borough had free spots available.
Not sure about IAM, but the ROSPA group I joined earlier this year is very good.
have you considered a different place?

Did mine today. Great day, apart from the crappy weather !
We had experience levels from 1 month to 30 years, plus you are encouraged to do more than one,as it’s flexible dependent on your skill level. Highly recommended and I’ll do another, tho probably at Chigwell next, just for the different routes.
