Mini Countryman 2.0D auto v BMW 118d auto
Discussion
Thinking of getting a Mini Countryman 2.0D automatic. Would prefer a BMW 118d auto but this is for my wife, who loves Minis.
Probably 2012 vintage, or thereabouts. Preference for the 118d over the 120d for the cheaper road tax.
The engine in the Mini, is it the same as in the BMW? Both 2-litre diesels.
Might seem a dumb question but I'd just like to be sure.
TIA

Hello.
I would only buy either of those cars from a reputable dealer and ensure that all checks and recalls are carried out.
This will give you a little more information.

There was another thread recently, which I can't find at the moment. It was a similar issue with a £12000 BMW x5. The dealer had tried to mask the issue and fob off the buyer.
Of course im not saying every one of these engines is going to explode, but it's definitely something to think about. It's the same engine in both cars.
Good luck.
