Exhaust Gas Emissions Tester Analyser
Discussion
Hi,
I am looking for a Gas Analyser for my home garage (not for MOT).
I have been looking at some use Sun DGA 2500 on Ebay, but most need calibrating.
The question:
Is the DGA 2500 good unit for home use and can the calibration be unlocked?
Or is there a better unit out there for home use?
Any help would be great, plus if you have one to sell please let me know.

Hi,
I would like to use it for fault diagnosis and testing some exhaust / Cats.
Can you do this with 'wideband lambda and CO sensors'.
What would you recommend?
Many cat faults can be diagnosed just using narrowband EGO sensors up and downstream. It's common for modern cars to have the sensors in place already.I would like to use it for fault diagnosis and testing some exhaust / Cats.

Not so easy on a CAT car.
The 02's and PCM will make adjustments and Mask the fault and or symptom. The only way you can make use of a gas analyser is to drill a hole Pre Cat near to Upstream 02. Some cars have a bolt you can remove. F355 IIRC ??
So much more can be achieved from looking at 02 Datastreams on a scan tool. Better still an Oscilloscope. PICO is my weapon of choice.
Indeed you can gain some value from tailpipe emmisions but the world has moved on and we have far better measurement data and tools at our disposal.
I have a Snap On ScanGas handheld tester. Hardly ever use it other than to Sniff HC's in the coolant for Head Gasket confirmation or in a Bore looking for a dribbly injector with GDi engines.
