A few people who know me through MV’s and Aprilia’s will already know this.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to say that my brother Neil passed away 2 weeks ago from his injuries when a car collided with him on his bike 1/4 of a mile from his home.

Neil loved bikes, had ridden since he was 6 and was the one who got me riding.

He was a genuinely lovely guy who would help anyone. Stories are coming out of how as an NHS physio he would go see patients in his own time when they could get the appointments they needed. He travelled to Nepal on his own money to help rehabilitate kids with Cerebal Palsy, where he accidentally got a room with the head of KTM Nepal and spent his weekends biking about the hills of Nepal with him. The stories of how generous and kind he was are pouring out from friends, colleagues and patients alike.

The family is devastated and I really miss him as we had only just started to rebuild his Aprilia RSV Mille R which we were going to take on track.

My last real memory of him was at a track day at Brands where we had a great time and I’ll continue the RSV in his memory.

Thanks to the London Air Ambulance and the wonderful staff at St George’s Neuro ICU we had time to say goodbye to him after the accident.

When we were in the coffee shop, we heard one nurse who was looking after him say “I’ve only got 30 minutes and I’ve spent 15 trying to get a coffee.”

So we asked anyone who wanted to send flowers etc. just to put the money towards donations so that we can help the staff facilities and the relatives room at St George’s and the Air Ambulance. We figured that £500 would get them a coffee machine for the break room and one for the relative’s room with a little to the charity would be amazing. We have been overwhelmed by the response.

Anyhow, apologies for the rambling and long post.

If anyone did want to help out it would be lovely, but please ride safe out there.

As a fellow biker with a brother who also rides, I can’t imagine how difficult this must be. So sorry for your loss, he sounded like a great human being. Will pop a donation through.

I am Really sorry to hear this, OP. It makes me realise how lucky I was with my accident.

If you need any help or advice about “procedures”, please feel free to PM me. Your police FLO (family liaison officer) should keep you updated and informed, but don’t be afraid to “use” him/her as much as you want/need. They will be invaluable to you in the days and weeks ahead. They won’t think any of your questions are “stupid” or “pointless”, even if you yourself think it’s something you “should” know. FLOs are worth their weight in gold and really won’t mind you asking stuff. That said, if you want to know anything else, please feel free to contact me.

The last thing I’d say is to remember to take whatever time YOU need to get your head round things, as well as remembering to be kind to yourself. It’s entirely normal to feel all sorts of emotions, some of them contradictory and conflicting. Things will get better, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

Sincere condolences.

It sounds like your brother was a man who contributed a great deal whilst he was here. I'm sure you're very proud.

I was thinking the same. Your brother has obviously touched many people's hearts and his memory will live on with them forever.

Sincere condolences and well done for having the strength to set up the Just Giving Page

Thanks Dibble. I think we just want to get things moving with the arrangements. Whatever the outcome of any inquest, it won't change things. So far all the services have been amazing.

All the support from family, friends and other bikers has been amazing. I know that Neil would be really pleased to know that some good is being down for the medical services, which meant so much to him.

I have to say that whilst building the RSV is distracting, it's also really hard as I always want to talk about what I've done with him and show him how the bike is progressing. frown

Thanks to everyone for their wishes.
