Something sporty that can please the other half (and kids)

Don't think I've ever done a what car... which is because I always know what I want.
But, next year it's time to upgrade the Jazz to something we both like! That consists of me writing a list and her having to agree to something lol.
Looking to spend around £7-8k but might stretch up to £10k for the right car.
Originally though the obvious choices are Focus (ST) or Golf (GTI) but other options appearing on my Autotrader search were S3 (my favourite looking, but a bit overkill) and Polo GTI (fantastically cheap to run compared to the others, but by far the smallest boot)
Then she threw a spanner in the works - What if we have a third child in a couple of years? I'm fine with swapping out the cars again there but this is where I'm most confused on what to get - Cars that can fit 3 car seats in that still have a bit of poke?
My Autotrader search this time revealed only two suitable cars - Zafira and S-Max, but apparently the Zafira doesn't support 3 cars seats, so... that leaves a total of one car to chose from, when selecting manual and petrol. Can this really be the case!?
tl;dr just read the final two paragraphs. Thanks!

I have a feeling Citroen C4 Picassos and Grand C4 Picassos fit three car seats across but if you were previously considering a Focus ST or an Audi S3 that isn't going to peel your orange.
I understand the S-Max only fits three sometimes; it depends on the seat.
I wondered about a Subaru B9 Tribeca -- terrific engine and interior, if you can handle the exterior looks -- but I don't think the third row of seats has Isofix and I think the middle row only takes two child seats so that's probably out.
If you have a third in two years' time will one/both of the older two be out of child seats at that point?
What Car did a six-page tickbox-fest on this issue a month or so ago, you might find some other options there although obvs a) new and b) I doubt they'll be very PH-y.

I think this is why so many parents buy Discoveries (Discoverys?) and Volvo XC90s.

Thanks for the link - I'll have a read through that.
I believe the law now states children have to use car seats until they're 12?
Re-reading my thread today it seems a bit jumbled - Sorry for that. I guess I'm asking 2 questions really... the first, a hot hatch, I basically know what I want but wondering if anyone had any other ideas... but the second question is about upgrading again in a couple of years and what the heck to do then!

Just accept fate. There is no such thing as a car with “a bit of poke” that fits 3 children in the back. Even if there is, do you really think you’ll look or feel cool slamming a Ford S-max about?
When you have another baby Just get something mundane af that has space for 3 child seats, does 50mpg, and that you don’t mind being covered in crumbs and sick.
In the meantime get a GTI.

Think I've found the perfect machine for the job... the missus mentioned a Touran the other day, and now I find out they do an R-Line version
0-60 in under 9 seconds does the job, and looks pretty decent for the size of the thing! Still £20k odd at the moment but hopefully a few years down the line they'll drop with people putting mega miles on them for family holidays lol.

Our 3 kids are growing up. Up to now we’ve managed to squeeze 3 child seats in the back of 2.5 adult fitting rear benches, but they will outgrow that. I’ll probably get the upcoming GLB with a third seating row on lease. Kodiaq also a contender but I want it to be slightly desirable.
But seriously: Go get a snip.
