Hi All,

Now that my Audi is fixed and i'm in the process of selling it (HATE!) i am thinking about what car to have next.

After the Audi feeling so mundane and the fact it blew up so catastrophically i want to go from that into something that feels just that bit more fun/engaging/special.

Budget wise i've seen many cars up to about the 15k mark that i can afford but looking for what people would consider a good car for a very broad criteria.

Needs

4 Seats (Ok legroom for children - doesn't need to be an estate though or hatchback)
Straight Line Speed - sub 6 seconds ( i like my straight line acceleration).
Petrol - 20mpg is fine. Less i'd start to worry (only a 6 mile daily commute)
Daily driveable

Wants -

Driving - Good Drivers car - corners well, great for Welsh B'roads and long weekend country/cross continent drives
Power - Preferably over 300hp
Stands out - not something you maybe see everyday and draws the discerning nod from fellow enthusiasts.
Feels that bit "special" (subjective i know)

I have no preference on fwd/4wd/rwd

I will not consider any model of Audi - i think they are highly over-rated troublesome cars given their "reputation" of "quality".

Any other marque is a go.

Please offer your ideas.

The m3 was on my list for sure and i hadn't happened around the vxr8 too on my searches.

The Megane, though a drivers car wasn't something i had considered. I think because it just felt too like a "normal" hatch, but i think the liquid yellow is such a stunning car that it has to be up there.

Thanks as always.

Anyone for anything different?

Prefer interaction of the manual, but, i am not ruling out any. I guess it depends on the car. e92 M3 dct is preferable to manual but in an e46 the manual as the SMG is junk - so car dependent i guess is the answer.

Some years ago I got to drive a few Maseratis at Millbrook and I thought the Quattroporte handled really well - but getting one of those must qualify you for the Brave Pill! laugh

In which case, what about an E60 M5?

I was looking at the M5 but that led me to start looking at the M6 too - anyone have any opinions on that car?
