2020 Aston Martin Pistonheads calender.
Discussion
I have approached a local printer whom I know do some pretty good brochures etc for some big names with the idea for the 2020 calendar mentioned in this thread.
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I have requested a quote for 100, 13 page A3 portrait, bound with hanger in 200gsm silk finish. I chose silk because it will be more forgiving on reproduction of lesser pixel count submissions. The quote comes out at between £7.50 and £8.00 per calendar, depending on paper pricing at time of order.
Before I commit to spending £750 to £800 on these calendars,
1. who can confirm they would be interested in buying one and
2. Any suggestions on how we select the top selection of pics? My printer has suggested submitting around 20 and narrowing them down to a final 13 depending on how they will look blown up to calendar size.
3. Is anyone who has submitted a pic on the thread NOT PREPARED to waive any copyright issue?
4. Can anyone foresee any problems from Aston Martin with me producing an unofficial calendar?
5. Should we invite submissions from the pre-Gaydon cars forum?
If all are sold, then there could be a small profit made which I would like to donate to Gt Ormond St Childrens Hospital as I have done in the past.
Cheers,
8Tech.

Go for it! I'm definitely in.
Money
All I can say is the track days that have been organised through this forum over the last few years have turned into a bit of a nightmare for the organisers when the time has come to pay up. My advice would be that once the project is a definite, you come up with a price and people are only on the list for a calendar once you have received the money. Otherwise people just magically melt away off the list when it's time to cough up and you're left out of pocket. You have been warned ..........

Any owners of such cars who view this forum are welcome to contribute but I wouldn't start trying to do it across two forums. Money

Stick me down for 5 copies.
I would ask photo contributors to provide original photos to get best quality.
I often reduce the size/quality to post on here. I'm sure others do the same.
Absolutely, you want hi-Rez photos, not the limited ones posted here.I would ask photo contributors to provide original photos to get best quality.

Great work 8Tech.
I'm in.
If my car happens to be selected, I might be buying a quantity.
Ref. your point 4. I think asking AML first must be the correct way to to go.
With the charitable aim, hopefully they will not object.

Object to what? A calendar of privately owned Astons? They have zero standing to be involved. Print away! With the charitable aim, hopefully they will not object.
We did this when I was a member of the XK Enthusiast Club and it worked well. A separate website was set up with voting buttons with those interested required to submit 2 photographs of their pride and joy. A deadline for voting was set and thrown open to members of the XKEC to vote on their favourite photo. The one with the most votes was the cover with the next 12 selected for the months.

That sounds great but is way above my ability to set-up. Anyone on here able to oblige with that system?avinalarf said:
Presuming that you'll include a photo of my car , a DB9V, with me beside it posing in drag, then count me in.
What about that famous photo of your friend (reportedly now banned from this forum) on the Brighton seafront, standing beside his Aston Martin with two big girls. At least I did think they were girls, but difficult to be certain in Brighton these days?
Yes I'm in - great idea.
A guy from the TVR forum did the same. There's little the manufacturer could do to object.
I'd prefer it if the subject matter was centred around the type of cars that the posters on this forum own, ie, more modern vehicles. (It would be a shame if it was a general AM calendar because I'd expect there to be many of these around already)
